Olsztyn is a perfect location for “after hours” businesses. 22.3% of its area is covered by forest and 9.6% – by water, i.e. rivers and lakes – there are as many as 11 lakes within the administrative borders. All of those directly reflect the inhabitants quality of life.
The city offers an extensive portfolio of recreational and cultural attractions. The tourist infrastructure surrounding the Lakes Ukiel and Długie has been revitalized. The “Ukiel” Sports and Recreation Center is the most modern all-year round sports and recreation complex in Warmia and Mazury. In terms of the cultural offer, the city is home to numerous art galleries, museums as well as a planetarium and an astronomical observatory, 2 theatres and a concert hall. The shopping offer in Olsztyn in Olsztyn, on the other hand, is provided by 2 shopping malls, 7 big shopping centers and numerous markets and discount shops (the largest commercial networks are: Carrefour, Tesco, Auchan, Intermarche, Kaufland, Biedronka, Lidl and Stokrotka).
